William “Billy” York, age 50, of Benton, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 at his home.
He was born in Murray on August 21, 1972 to Linda Surls McLeod and Stephen York. Billy worked at the sawmill for many years and was a member of South Marshall Missionary Baptist Church.
Billy loved the outdoors and enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, horseback riding, fishing and working on cars. He will be remembered by so many as a wonderful friend with a selfless heart. Billy would always be willing to make any sacrifice needed, so his loved ones, and even a stranger, could have a better life.
He will be deeply missed by his family, including his mother, Linda McLeod of Benton; his father, Stephen York, of Benton; two sons, Adam York and Mark York, both of Benton; two brothers, Will McLeod of Benton and Stephen Charles York; five sisters, Pam Jestes (Walter) of Benton, Stephanie Lynn York of Benton, Angela Walker of Benton, Stephanie Inle, and Shauna Gordon; and one grandson, Kacen York.

The funeral service for Mr. York will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Young officiating.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Haymes Cemetery in Benton.
