Charles David Morefield, 93, of Gilbertsville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
David was born on May 5, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Willard “Wes” Morefield and Mayon Rose English Morefield. He was of the baptist faith and a proud veteran of the United States Navy. After the Navy he spent many years working as an electrician for IBEW Local 816 in Paducah and for the majority of his life also worked as a farmer.
David enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and fruit trees. When he wasn’t working and farming he loved to spend his time golfing or sitting down to watch some of his favorite western shows or movies on television. More than anything else, David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved to help others out whenever he could.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlotte Marie Logue Morefield; his two daughters, Teena Wilkerson (Mike) of Benton, Kentucky and Amy Stone (Alan) of Louisville, Kentucky; two sons, Michael Morefield (Wren) of Benton, Kentucky and Alan Morefield of Memphis, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Wesley Morefield, Isabella Noles, Maddox Noles, Addison Morefield, and August Morefield; one great-granddaughter, Makenna Morefield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Melvia York and Joanna Reynolds; two brothers, Joel Morefield and Denny Morefield; and his parents, Willard Wesley Morefield and Mayon English Garfield.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr with Bro. Gary Knuckles officiating. Burial will follow at Marshall County Memory Gardens.
