**UPDATE**

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office has continued to investigate this incident overnight and into Thursday July 20. We have been hesitant to release details for several reasons including not wanting to prejudice any possible future witnesses or notifying a possible suspect what law enforcement had found or knew. As an extra precaution, deputies conducted extra patrols in the Reidland area and performed other measures during the night of July 19, 2023.

There is no danger to the community due to this reported incident. Detectives determined on Thursday that the allegations were false and the incident was staged.

Detectives have been and will continue to be in consultation with prosecutors regarding any possible criminal charges.

At approximately 7:00 AM on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Byron Drive and Reidland Road for a report of a missing person. The 18-year-old female was reported to have been last seen at approximately 1:00 AM.

Detectives responded to aid in the search of the female and at approximately 9:17 AM, the female was located at a residence on Kentucky Dam Road. The female had her hands bound and had non-incapacitating injuries. The female stated that she had been taken by an unknown male.

Detectives and deputies are still actively investigating the incident. If you live in the area and have video, the Sheriff’s Office is asking that you call 270-444-4719 so a deputy or detective can look at the recording. Detectives are searching for a male, approximately 5’8” – 6’0” tall and possibly around 200 pounds.
