Emarea Yates Hixon, age 90, left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday morning, April 16, 2023.  She was born Feb 20, 1933, in Bardwell KY to James Neal Yates and Beatrice Wooden Yates.  While at Bowling Green Business College, Western KY University, she met and married her husband of 59 years, William E. “Buddy” Hixon from Mangham, LA, who preceded her in death.   After living in Louisiana for several years, she, Buddy and their three daughters returned home to Carlisle Co. where she enjoyed the rest of her life surrounded by family and friends, and a loving church family at Bardwell Baptist.  She retired from River Valley Ag Credit in Kevil, KY and loved spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the extended grandchildren and great-grands who called her Granny.

She lived a happy, healthy, joyful life filled with fun & laughter. She loved to travel with her daughters, was always up for an adventure and loved to play Bridge with her friends. Anybody that knew her will remember her for her positive outlook on life and her great sense of humor.

Emarea is survived by three daughters, Kelly Kirchgessner (Dave), of Albuquerque, NM, Karen Evans (Brian) of The Villages, FL, and Alison Garnett (Stephen) of Bardwell, KY,  five grandchildren, Sarah Evans of Louisville, KY, John Evans of Orlando, FL, Ella Burgess (Josh) of Cunningham, KY, Grace Harrison (Drew) of Hummelstown, PA and Noah Garnett of Mayfield, KY, two great-grandchildren, Emelia & William Harrison of Hummelstown, PA, two nephews, Richard Green (LaNell) of Memphis, TN and Russell Green (Cheryl) of Oak Island, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Hixon, her parents, Neal and Bea Yates, a sister, Sylvia Ward, two brothers, Malcolm and Archie Yates and a nephew, Steve Ward.

Please join us in celebrating her life with Funeral services at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
