Christian Fellowship defeats Calloway County to advance to 4th District Championship

Gracie Howard in Christian Fellowship’s January 17 game against Calloway County, led the Lady Eagles in Tuesday’s 4th District Tournament win with 25 points. Howard scored 23 of those points in the second half.

Christian Fellowship’s Lady Eagles are doing something no girls team in their school’s history has achieved – they are playing on Wednesday for the 4th District Championship. They beat Calloway County 66-60 in Tuesday’s semifinals and advance to play Marshall County for the title. The Lady Marshals defeated Murray 49-43 on Monday. Both teams will automatically advance to next week’s First Region Tournament at Murray State – another first for the CFS program.

CFS lost the two regular season games against Calloway County by scores of 56-53 and 60-42. Trailing 38-24 at halftime on Tuesday, the Lady Eagles gathered themselves and went on to outscore the Lady Lakers 22-8 in the third quarter to tie the game at 46-46 behind 15 points from Gracie Howard.

CFS outscored Calloway County by six in the fourth quarter, again led by Howard with eight to take the win by six. Lillian Burnett and Jayden Jackson also had big nights for the Lady Eagles with 17 points each and Burnett had 12 boards.

Sayler Lowe led Calloway County with 23 points and Jaiden Koch scored 21. The Lady Lakers season ends with a record of 8-18.
