LYON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE MEDIA RELEASE

 

 

  1. On Tuesday, February 14th, 2023, around 12:25pm, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential burglary complaint in the Mt. Zion area of KY 810 South. The investigation revealed sometime between 8:37am and 12:15pm on this date, an unknown offender(s) unlawfully entered a home off KY 810 South and stole cash and jewelry.  The offender is believed to have arrived and left on foot.  If anyone has information concerning this burglary and theft, please contact Sheriff Brent White at (270) 388-2311 or anonymously online at https://www.lyonsheriff.com/report-a-crime.html .

 

 

  1. On Tuesday, February 14th, 2023, around 2pm, while conducting a neighborhood canvass as it pertained to a burglary investigation, Sheriff White observed a female consuming marijuana off KY 810 South. The female, identified as Debbie Blackwell (64) of Kuttawa, was cited to court for Possession of Marijuana.

 

 

  1. On Tuesday, February 14th, and Wednesday, February 15th, 2023, the following parents, or guardians of students who are enrolled in the Lyon County School District were charged on criminal summons with Parent/Custodian to Send Child to School – 1st or 2nd Offense:

Krystal Mitchuson (39) of Kuttawa

 

Jeana Lowery (39) of Eddyville

 

 

  1. On Tuesday, February 14th, 2023, at 1:52pm, Harold Shane Perkins (57) of Kalamazoo, MI (formerly of Fredonia), was extradited back to Kentucky from Michigan and charged with a Lyon Circuit Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear. Perkins is lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center where he is being held without bond until his next court appearance.
  2. On Wednesday, February 15th, 2023, at 11am, Sheriff Brent White was conducting a burglary investigation when he located Vanessa A. Grubbs (48) of Paducah, at a residence on Springs Road. Grubbs was arrested on a McCracken County District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear in court.

 

 

  1. On Wednesday, February 15th, 2023, at 3:22pm, Timothy L. Smith (53) of Roxboro, NC, was extradited back to Kentucky from Virginia and charged with a Lyon Circuit Court Bench Warrant for Probation Violation (for a felony offense). Smith is lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center where he is being held without bond until his next court appearance.

 

 

  1. On Sunday, February 19th, 2023, at 6:15am, Sheriff Brent White responded to a single vehicle collision on KY 293. The investigation revealed a 2008 Pontiac driven by Katelyn Wellham (19) of Eddyville, was North on KY 293 when a deer entered her lane of travel.  Wellham was unable to avoid a collision with the animal. No injuries were reported in the collision.

 

 

  1. On Sunday, February 19th, 2023, at 12:55pm, Sheriff Brent White was North bound on US 641 when he observed a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro driving recklessly at a high rate of speed South bound on US 641. Upon Sheriff White activating his emergency lights and turning around on the vehicle, the operator accelerated and turned off on KY 1943 in an attempt to evade law enforcement.  Sheriff White radioed Eddyville Police Chief Jordan Parrish to assist him in trying to stop the vehicle.  The vehicle was located on KY 373.  It initially did not yield to emergency equipment from Chief Parrish, but subsequently stopped near the state highway maintenance property.  The driver was identified as James M. Riley (50) of Henderson.  He was arrested by Sheriff White and charged with Reckless Driving, Fleeing/Evading Police-2nd Degree (motor vehicle), and DUI-1st Riley was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center and his vehicle was impounded.
