Randal “Randy” Martin, 72, of Benton, Kentucky passed peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital.
Randy was born in Spring Valley, Illinois on December 2, 1950 to the late Vivian and Kathryn Benson Martin. He was a 1973 graduate of Ohio Community High School in Illinois where he was one of the star football players for his school. He later went on to get his college degree from the University of Illinois.
Randy loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His passion for being outdoors eventually led him to become one of the owners of the Northwinds Hunting Club. Around 1988, Randy began his career as an insurance agent for R. Barga and Company Insurance until he recently retired. His love for being outdoors never went away and from 2002 to 2013 he became a pro fishing guide and started his company “Crappie Attitude”. When Randy wasn’t outdoors he enjoyed watching Nascar, football, and Wheel of Fortune. Randy never met a stranger, and will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Karen Qualls Martin.
He was preceded in death by one sister, and his parents.
