Flooding concerns arise as river levels near crest

Heavy rains have finally left the area, so flash flooding from creeks and streams are no longer a problem, but communities along area rivers now have to deal with a threat of flooding on a larger scale.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning Monday afternoon for multiple locations along the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers in Missouri, Kentucky, and Illinois.

Minor to moderate flooding is already occurring in several places, and record flood levels are possible in some locations.

Most river levels crest at 50 feet, which was reached by all area rivers this morning.
