After an 0-6 start to the season, the CFS Eagles won three straight, notching their first two wins over Gallatin County, IL (62-39) and Hickman County (67-60) before Christmas break. The third straight win came on Tuesday over Fulton City (79-63) before falling to Ballard Memorial (95-64) on Thursday.
Friday, the Eagles played in the first round of the All ‘A’ Classic and advanced with a 62 -60 win over Community Christian Academy behind 33 points from Andrew Dunning. Dunning hit four 3-pointers and was 7-of-9 at the free throw line. CFS trailed by four at halftime at 31-27 and by two points heading into the fourth quarter. They outscored CCA 20-16 in the fourth to earn the two-point win and advance in the tournament to play Murray on Tuesday.
In their 79-63 win over Fulton City on Monday at home, CFS was led in scoring by Elijah Grigg with 33 points and the freshman pulled in 10 rebounds. Dunning had 15 points, 10 rebounds and 7-of-10 in free throws.
The Eagles lost 95-64 at Ballard Memorial on Friday. Elijah Grigg led again in scoring with 24 points followed by Dunning with 20 points and nine rebounds.
