One goal is all they needed to win their fifth straight 2nd District title when the Marshals defeated Calloway County in Thursday’s championship game.
After a scoreless first half that saw several great shots on goal by the Marshals that just missed finding the net, the game remained 0-0 until the 59th minute. A corner kick by Jericho Evans bounced off of players and back out. Evans booted it back inside and Landon Kinder connected for the goal.
It was their 10th shutout of the season with Steven Claborn picking up two saves. The Marshals have now won nine straight over the Lakers.
Five Marshals were named to the All-District Team – Jericho Evans, Logan Davis, Landon Kinder, Logan Parker and Zander Maxlow.
Marshall County will host the Region 1 Tournament next week and will play Paducah Tilghman on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 5:30. The second semi-final game will follow between McCracken County and Calloway County.
