
BENTON – Hannah Langhi led the Lady Marshals to a 54-49 win over Hopkins County Central with 18 points and 19 rebounds, her third double-double in the Lady Marshals first three games of the season.

Langhi and Miyah Davis gave the Lady Marshals their first five points of the game but they trailed Hopkins County 11-5. Hopkins County’s full court press gave the Lady Marshals some trouble before Langhi and Nikki Fehrenbacher combined for 10 points to tie the game at 15-15. A lay-in by Paige Henson at the buzzer put the Lady Marshals up by two.
Langhi and Briley English combined for nine points in the second quarter to hang on to a one point lead at halftime. Trailing 37-34 in the third quarter, English sank a three that tied the game at 37-37 going into the fourth quarter.
Hannah English opened the fourth quarter with two free throws to put the Lady Marshals back up by two. A free-throw and basket by Henson gave them a 46-42 lead that was cut to two by Hopkins County with a few missed opportunities at the free throw line by the Lady Marshals.
Fehrenbacher and Davis combined for the next four points to put them back up by four with a nice feed to Langhi under the basket with 40 seconds remaining for a six point lead. Briley English hit one of two at the free throw line followed by a three from Lyric Campbell with 1.7 seconds left to cut the Lady Marshals lead to four. English added a final free throw to close out the game on a five point victory.
