Burglary Investigation Yields Five Arrest

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office arrested five people this week during burglary investigations that took place in the Farley area of McCracken County.

The investigations began on 06/27/22 when McCracken County Deputies responded to a complaint of a burglary in the 600 block of Milliken Road in McCracken County. The homeowner stated that they had returned home and found a man inside their residence. The man fled on foot. A check of the home revealed that a handgun had been stolen.

On 06/29/22 deputies responded to another burglary in the 500 block of Milliken Road. The homeowner there stated that someone had stolen a handgun from the residence.

On 07/18/2022 deputies responded to another burglary in the 1100 block of Oaks Road in McCracken County. The homeowner reported that someone had entered the home through a window and stolen jewelry and firearms.

During the investigation detectives conducted a traffic stop on vehicle on 07/20/2022 on Irvin Cobb Drive in McCracken County. Detectives located 41-year-old James Mallas as a passenger in the vehicle. Mallas was found in possession of a bag of jewelry. Detectives identified some of the jewelry as items that were stolen during the recent burglaries. That same day detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at Mallas’s residence located at 916 Oaks Road in McCracken County. During the search warrant service two other people, Carol Darnell, and her son Austin Wallace, were located at the residence. A search of the residence revealed more stolen jewelry, small quantities of Methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia. All three individuals were arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.

The investigation revealed that Mallas was trading and selling the stolen items to Marshall Crabtree and Paul Browning. Detectives obtained two additional search warrants for their residences located at 417 Milliken Road and 434 Milliken Road. The search warrants were executed on 07/21/22. Detectives arrested 58-year-old Marshall Crabtree at 417 Oaks. Detectives arrested 65-year-old Paul Browning at 434 Milliken Road. During the searches detectives located additional stolen property including a 9mm handgun, Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and other items. Browning is a convicted felon and unable to lawfully possess firearms.

Both Crabtree and Browning were lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Charges: Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Facilitation to receiving Stolen Property Firearm, possession of Marijuana and promoting contraband

Arrested (7/21): Paul Browning 65, of Milliken Road (McCracken County)

Charges: Trafficking in Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property firearm and possession of handgun by a felon
