Chalon Lassiter, 77, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.
Born on October 21, 1947, in Benton, Kentucky, to the late James Robert Lassiter and Anna Lorena Hendrickson Lassiter, Chalon was a hard-working man who always liked to stay busy and gave 110% to everything he did. He spent forty years working as a laborer for General Tire before retiring from the plant. Immediately after retiring from General Tire, he took a job at Tractor Supply, working as a manager and helping open their new Paducah location. He continued working for them for the next ten years before retiring for the second time.
Family was something that Chalon cherished most. When his children were younger, he found ways to stay close to them by coaching their sports teams or participating in any hobbies or interests they enjoyed. Once his children had grown and he became a grandfather, he also made it a point to be just as involved in his grandchildren’s lives. He always enjoyed getting the opportunity to spend time babysitting them and helping raise them. Chalon was a man who enjoyed the simpler things in life but lived a life full of adventures. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, shooting his bow and arrow, riding horses, watching old westerns on TV, and playing pool. In his younger years, he enjoyed showing horses and was also one of the original riders who cut the horse riding trails for what is now known as Wrangler’s Campground. Later in life, he became a talented and active billiards player, joining the American Poolplayers Association and competing in a variety of tournaments.
Chalon was also a jack of all trades who could fix virtually anything, and if there was something he couldn’t afford, he would make it. Beyond his work ethic, his personality and generosity were two of his most memorable traits. Known for always being full of life, he never met a stranger and would always go out of his way to help anyone who needed it. His family would joke and say that he never left a room without knowing every person in it. He leaves behind a life full of cherished memories and deep love and devotion felt by all of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Seawright Lassiter; two daughters, Shalin Prince (Tracy Matheny) and Jennifer Fort (Richard) both of Benton, Kentucky; two sons, Brandon Lassiter (Kelly) of Benton, Kentucky and James Randolph Lassiter of Missouri; seven grandchildren, Kalyn Jade Lassiter, Brady Trey Lassiter, Dalton Lee Fort, Madelyn Joy Fort, Anna Fort, Kristen Domke, and Ronnie Lassiter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Hilda Howard and Janice Morris; one brother, Juwayne Lassiter; and his parents.
