Bob “Santa Bob” Bland, 85

Bob “Santa Bob” Bland, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, in Paducah, KY at the age of 85. Born on February 25, 1940, on a kitchen table in Daisy, GA, Bob’s origin was as unique as his life’s journey.

His dedication to public service was exemplified through his 23 years with the Air Force National Guard and his earnest commitment to the U.S. Steelworkers Union. Upon retiring from service, he spent 15 years greeting and uplifting spirits at Walmart, where he joyously embraced his role as Santa Bob- a name affectionately given for his perfect Santa beard and generous heart.

A passionate Atlanta Braves fan and an avid fisherman, Bob found solace in the simple pleasures of life. The twin brother to Betty, he was proud of his Georgian roots and never forgot the warmth of his beloved hometown. Bob’s outgoing nature meant he never met a stranger, and his legacy of unwavering friendship and community spirit will be cherished by all who knew him.

Bob is survived by the love of his life Mary Peeler; one daughter Regina (Doug) Oller of West Paducah; three grandchildren, Desiree (Drew) Harned of Paducah, Brandon Bland, and Erik Oller of West Paducah; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Kathryn Bland; his parents Troy Lee Bland and Alma Hodges Bland; one son Allen Bland; four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and cremation services of Paducah with Donna Hawkins officiating. Burial will take place at the Brook Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 21, 2025 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
