Lady Marshals go 4-1 at Fort Walton Beach Bash, improve to 16-2

Marshall County’s Lady Marshals improve to 16-2 after a very successful Spring Break week at the Fort Walton Beach Bash – winning four of their five games.

The team opened the week off on Sunday with two wins over Hart County (10-6) and Campbellsville (20-2). They suffered just their second loss of the season on Monday to West Jessamine (14-2) but rebounded with two nice wins over Lafayette (9-8) and Henry County (7-6).

A highlight in their opener came when Allicen Harris launched a fourth-inning grand slam in the win over Hart County. Harris was 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs. Emma Reynolds and Trinlee Anderson were both perfect at the plate going 4-for-4, with a double each. Lilly Hayden earned the win, striking out 10 while giving up 10 hits and six runs over six innings in the circle.

In their second game on Sunday, the Lady Marshals wasted no time putting runs on the board, thanks to back-to-back home runs from Adley Poole and Allicen Harris in the first inning. They cruised to a 20-2 win over Campbellsville in just four innings, racking up 15 hits along the way.

Poole had a standout performance, going 3-for-3 with five RBIs, a double, and a home run. Harris followed with a 2-for-4 effort, adding a double to her home run and driving in five runs of her own. She also earned the win in the circle, striking out five while allowing four hits and two runs.

West Jessamine handed the Lady Marshals just their second loss of the season on Monday. The Colts scored 14 runs on 17 hits in the 14-2 win. The Lady Marshals trailed 3-0 after one inning but cut it to one with two runs in the second. West Jessamine combined for 11 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to put the game away.

Leadoff hitter Emma Reynolds was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3. Lilly Hayden took the loss, pitching four and a third innings, giving up eight earned of 11 runs on 12 hits while striking out three.

The Lady Marshals pulled off a thrilling victory on Wednesday with a dramatic 9-8 walk-off win over previously undefeated Lafayette, handing the Generals their first loss after an 11-0 start. Trailing 8-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh, they rallied for six runs to complete the comeback.

Kadence Cavitt and Emma Reynolds led off the inning with singles and Adley Poole got things rolling with a sacrifice fly to bring in a run. Allicen Harris followed with a clutch RBI double, and a bases-loaded walk to Trinlee Anderson brought the Lady Marshals within two. Marin Oakley then tied the game with a two-run double, setting the stage for Cavitt’s two-out walk-off single to seal the win.

Harris earned her 11th victory of the season in the circle, striking out five while allowing six earned runs on nine hits.

The Lady Marshals closed out their Spring Break slate of games with a dominant 12-0 shutout over Henry County, fueled by an 11-run second inning that put the game out of reach early.

Macy McLeod, Allicen Harris, Audrey Knisley and Kadence Cavitt each drove in two runs. Harris earned the win, allowing just three hits and no runs while striking out four over three innings.
