Mr. James Patrick Rule, Jr., age 78, of Mayfield passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Mercy Health Lourdes in Paducah, KY.

He was a member of High Point Baptist Church, a member of Mayfield Golf and Country Club, a longtime league bowler at Cardinal Lanes and Spare Time Bowling, a former avid tennis player and a U.S. Air Force veteran.  He was a retired employee of TVA Shawnee Steam Plant and former owner of Hilltop Bar and Grill.

Jim is survived by his companion, Doris Diehl; one son, Chris (Amanda) Rule of Cuba, KY; three daughters, Stephanie (Jamie) Lee of Mayfield, KY, Missy (Michael) Travis of Thompson’s Station, TN and Jill (Brian) Kelly of Port Orange, FL; one brother, Jason Rule of Mayfield, KY; one sister, Barbara Bloom of Spokane, WA; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one brother, John Hardin Rule and his parents, James Patrick Rule, Sr. and Mary Francis Sholar Rule.

Funeral services for Mr. James Patrick Rule, Jr. will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.  Rev. Don Wilson and Rev. Marcus Burnett will officiate.  Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.  Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #26.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Rule, Austin Rule, Luke Travis, Doug Wheeler, Michael Travis and James Kelly.  Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Kelly, Jamie Lee and Adrion Daughenbaugh.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at the funeral home.
