
Marshall County’s tennis season is well underway, with several matches already played. The team kicked off their season on March 10 against Calloway County, where the boys’ team fell 6-3 and the girls’ team lost 5-1.
Despite the overall results, there were strong performances from Marshall County players. In singles matches, Eli Rudd defeated Filipe Bertoli 8-2, Mason Hill topped Zak Stork 8-2, and J.C. Wells secured an 8-4 win over Kaylee Morris. In doubles, the team of Rudd and Hill claimed victory over Stork and Hunter Williams, winning 8-5. Brady Glenn won his exhibition match 8-5.
On March 11, Marshall County hosted the West Kentucky Homeschool team, with the boys securing an 8-2 victory while the girls fell 5-1.
In singles play, Maverick Simmons won 8-3, Lincoln Colburn claimed an 8-2 victory, Eli Rudd shut out his opponent 8-0, Mason Hill edged out a close 9-8 (10-8) win, and J.T. Hall finished with an 8-2 victory.
The doubles teams had a strong showing, with four pairs earning wins: Colburn and Rudd (8-1), Hill and Hall (8-0), Hibbs and Glenn (8-1), and in girls’ doubles, Taylor Thomas and Chloe Anderson (8-2).
Marshall County also played four exhibition matches, winning two—Brady Glenn with a 6-0 shutout and Nash Tapp with a hard-fought 8-6 victory.

Marshall County’s boys’ team faced a tough challenge on March 17, falling 8-0 to McCracken County. Despite the loss, Lincoln Colburn and Brady Glenn had good singles matches, each falling 8-4.
The following day, the team rebounded with a closely contested match against Graves County. The boys came up just short in a 5-4 loss, while the girls fell 6-3.
Marshall County secured six singles wins: Maverick Simmons defeated Mason Kirby 8-4, Lincoln Colburn topped Aiden Meadows 8-2, Eli Rudd edged out Jackson Riley 8-5, Mason Hill bested Maddox Stamper 8-3, Lakyn Schroader defeated Gabby Courtney 8-2, and J.C. Wells won by forfeit.
In doubles action, Wells and Taylor Thomas earned an 8-3 victory over Lydia Bradley and Albany O’Neill. Meanwhile, Rudd and Hill battled McClain and Meadows to an 8-8 tie but fell in a hard-fought tiebreaker, 10-8.

The team faced St. Mary last Monday – the boys picking up three wins out of the six matches while the girls won three of nine matches.
Wins in singles play came from Colburn who defeated Sam Wilson 8-5 and Eli Rudd with a win over Hunter Korte 8-2. Simmons lost a hard-fought battle in a tiebreaker to Keller McCabe 8-9 (5-7).
Schroader won her singles match 8-2 over Ava Campbell and Lexie Rhone got a win by forfeit. Wells fought to the wire but came up just short in a tiebreaker, 8-9 (3-8), against Olivia O’Neill.
In doubles matches, the team of Rudd and Hill shutout Wilson and Korte 8-0 and Schroader and Anderson defeated Mowers and Duong 8-4. Elston Evans and Simmons played in a tightly contested match against Henry Wright and McCabe but ultimately fell 9-7.
