Lady Marshals stay perfect, pick up programs first win over McCracken County

Audrey Knisley was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate in the Lady Marshals 2-1 win Friday over McCracken County.

The Marshall County Lady Marshals softball team is off to a 4-0 start to their 2025 season. They opened with a 5-1 victory over Ballard Memorial before dominating Carlisle County 15-0 and district rival Murray High 16-1. Capping off their strong start, they secured an historic 2-1 win over McCracken County on Friday—the program’s first-ever victory against the Lady Mustangs.

Allicen Harris earned the win in the circle, striking out four while allowing just three hits and one run over seven innings. At the plate, sophomore Audrey Knisley led the offense, going a perfect 3-for-3.

The Lady Marshals struck first in the second inning when Elin Denfip, running for Harris who singled, stole second and scored on an error to give them an early 1-0 lead. McCracken County answered with a run in the fourth, tying the game at 1-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, Knisley delivered a two-out single, followed by a hit from Trinlee Anderson. Anderson was thrown out advancing to third on an error, but Addisyn Wyatt, running for Knisley, capitalized on the miscue to score the go-ahead run. The Lady Marshals held on to their 2-1 lead the rest of the way, sealing the victory.

The team will head to Trigg County for two games on Saturday. They will play Trigg County (2-0) at noon followed by a 2:00 game against Christian County (2-0).
