On Wednesday evening, March 12, 2025, just after 8:30pm Sheriff’s Deputies David Carroll, Shannon Oliver, and Josh Travis responded to a fugitive complaint on Green Road in the West end of the county. As deputies surveilled a residence, the fugitive appeared outside a door before seeing deputies and fleeing on foot. During the foot chase over rugged terrain, the fugitive was the recipient of a Taser deployment where he fell to the ground. When the fugitive didn’t follow verbal commands, he received additional deployments before he stopped resisting and was arrested without further incident.
The fugitive was identified as Michael W. Overbaugh (40) of Owensboro. He was a parole absconder who previously entered guilty pleas to felony charges including Trafficking in Methamphetamine in Trigg Circuit Court in 2024, but became a fugitive after failing to report to court for sentencing. On this evening, Overbaugh was transported to an area hospital before being lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Overbaugh was charged with Fleeing/Evading Police, Resisting Arrest, and warrants for Failure to Appear in Court, and Parole Violations. In addition, he was charged on a theft related criminal summons from Daviess County. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Lyon County EMS, Kentucky State Police, and Kuttawa Fire Department personnel.
