Kentucky State Police Charge Former Department of Juvenile Justice Correctional Officer with Criminal Abuse

NEWS RELEASE

PADUCAH, Ky. (March 8, 2025) – At the request of the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 Mayfield led an investigation resulting in criminal charges against a former correctional officer of the McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center. Tyler G. Lynn, 30 years old of Paducah, has been charged with two counts of Criminal Abuse, 2nd Degree.

On October 15, 2024, KSP Post 1 received reports of two separate incidents that occurred at the detention center involving the former correctional officer and two male juveniles. The investigation determined former Captain Lynn used excessive force resulting in two male juveniles sustaining fractures to their arms.

The investigation was presented to a grand jury on February 28 resulting in an indictment against Lynn and he was arrested by state police on March 6 and taken to the McCracken County Jail.
