Two school records fall at KTCCCA President’s Day Weekend Invite

Marshall County’s track and field athletes were back in Louisville on Saturday to compete in the KTCCCA President’s Day Weekend Invite held at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.

Two more school indoor records were set at the meet. Sam Morgan set a new mark in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.75, breaking the old record time of 6.79 set by Isaac Hodges on January 18 at the MLK Weekend Invite.

Addison Lyles finished first in the 1600 meter run while setting a new school record with a time of 5:14.48.

Deegan Croley took the win in the shot put with a distance of 53-03.75 and placed second in the weight throw with 54-00.25. Owen Futrell ran the second fastest indoor 800 meter time in school history with 1:59.09 and finished sixth.

A couple of third place finishes were recorded by Hayden Gray in the long jump (19-11.50) and the 4 x 400 meter relay (3:32.33) made up of Cade Sorrells, Isaac Reynolds, Avery Lovett and Owen Futrell.

Three strong results by the boys in the 200 meters in a field of 119 came from Morgan (5th), Sorrells (8th) and Hodges (11th). Hodges placed 10th in the 400 meters (51.72) and Reynolds 11th (51.76) out of a field of 100.

Lily Hays placed eighth in shot put (26-03.25) and Allie Burkeen placed 31st among a field of 104 in the 55 meter dash (7.88). Mia McGregor recorded two top 10’s with a seventh place finish in the long jump (15-06.25) and 10th in triple jump (29-05.75).

One more indoor meet is scheduled for each team before the KHSAA Indoor State Championships on March 6. The girls will compete in the Joe Elliott Indoor Invite in Marion, Ill. on February 27 and the boys’ team will head to Marion on March 1 for the Roger Minton Indoor Invite.
