
Marshall County’s JV and varsity boy’s teams traveled to Bardwell to play the Carlisle County Comets. They swept the night with the JV team getting a 40-31 win and the varsity team winning 63-47.
Matthew Langhi led the Marshals with 24 points, Kyzer Phillips had 14 points and 11 points were scored by Tommy Robertson.
After the Marshals jumped out to a 5-0 lead, Carlisle County went on a 7-0 run capped off with a 3-pointer by Kylen King to go ahead. Phillips ended the run with a three and Kaden Mohler scored to finish off the first quarter on a 10-7 lead.
The Marshals held the Comets to seven second quarter points while five different players contributed to their 15 points to extend the lead to 25-14 at halftime.
Another three from King in the third quarter helped the Comets trim the Marshals lead to 25-19. Langhi scored 11 of the Marshals 20 points in the quarter while Phillips dropped in a three to hold the Comets at bay and extend their lead to 18 points.
With a commanding 61-34 lead in the fourth quarter following a couple more threes from Phillips, the Marshals had to hold off a 10-0 run by the Comets before closing out the 63-47 win.
The Marshals extend their early season record to 4-0 and will take on the McCracken County Mustangs in Paducah on Thursday in a double header with the Lady Marshals that gets underway at 6:00.
