Back on the court just a few hours after their 85-28 win over Carlisle County on Friday night, the Lady Marshals played their second Hoopfest game at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday against Madisonville-North Hopkins.

The Lady Marshals beat the Lady Maroons 70-38 behind Skylar Waller’s 24-point game that included seven 3-pointers, all coming in the first half. Waller was 7-of-9 from 3-point range and had 10 rebounds on her way to earning Game MVP honors.

Waller hit a three to start the game and had five in the first quarter, but Madisonville kept closing the gaps in part from their leading scorer Riley Sword. Trailing 14-13, Sword dropped in a three to put the Lady Maroons up 15-14 at the end of the quarter.

Laken Schroader gets a shot off around Madisonville’s SaNya Carney in the first game on Saturday in the Marshall County Hoopfest. Schroader finished with 10 points and seven rebounds in the Lady Marshals win.

SaNya Carney gave Madisonville a 17-14 lead to start the second quarter but the Lady Marshals followed it up with a 12-2 run, jumpstarted on a put back by Laken Schroader. Addi Wall cut the Madisonville lead to one and a steal and basket at the other end by Schroader gave them a 20-19 lead and they never trailed again. Waller finished out the half with her seventh 3-pointer to send the Lady Marshals to the locker room with a 31-24 lead.

The third quarter was highlighted by two straight 3-pointers from Eden Sandlin that pushed the Lady Marshals lead to 42-26 and they were up by 17 heading into the final quarter.
