The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 300 block of Schmidt Road for a home explosion at 2:34 pm. Paducah E-911 dispatch told responding deputies that a house had exploded and people were running out.
Deputies arrived on scene and observed the house to be fully engulfed in flames. Investigation showed the owner of the residence was lighting a furnace/heater and an explosion occurred.
The owner of the residence was transported from a local hospital to Nashville for incapacitating injuries.
Hendron Fire Department, Lone Oak Fire Department, Mercy EMS, Paducah Power Systems, DES, and Kentucky State Police responded to assist.
