On November 3, 2024, at approximately 2:12 PM, a deputy with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office observed a male operating a vehicle in front of a business on Hinkleville Road. The deputy knew the male to have a suspended operator’s license for past driving under the influence convictions as well as several arrest warrants for failing to appear for court.
The deputy attempted to stop the operator, Lamar Wilson, but Wilson drove onto the parking lot of the business. Wilson immediately began to flee from the deputy, driving into no parking zones and between concrete pillars. Wilson then fled onto I24, heading East. Wilson utilized a turnaround on the interstate and began traveling West on the interstate. Deputies terminated the pursuit prior to the Ohio River bridge due to concerns for the public’s safety because of Wilson’s refusal to stop and continued erratic driving.
Law enforcement in Massac County observed Wilson operating the vehicle and also attempted to stop him. Wilson fled from them as well and continued back into Paducah via the Brookport Bridge. A deputy attempted to utilize a tire deflation device on Wilson’s vehicle around the bridge but was unsuccessful. A Paducah Police officer successfully utilized a tire deflation device on North 8 Street as Wilson continued to flee from law enforcement.
Wilson eventually lost control of his vehicle at the intersection of Park Avenue and Fountain Avenue. He then fled on foot into the neighboring cemetery before being captured by several law enforcement officers.
Wilson, 40 years old of Paducah, KY, was transported and lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
Wilson was charged with Driving DUI Suspended License 2nd Offense, 15 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, one county of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree – Police Officer, two counts of Disregarding Traffic Control Device, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, Speeding, Reckless Driving, and other traffic offenses.
Additionally, Wilson was arrested pursuant three arrest warrants for Failure to Appear for bond revocations and bond hearings related to driving under the influence, drug charges, and other crimes.
