
Marshall County High School hosted the Region 1 Class 1A, 2A and 3A meet on Saturday. Marshall County’s Kobey Yates took the individual title in Class 3A with a new course record and the Marshals placed third to advance to the KHSAA Cross Country State Championships on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
Yates holds the school record time of 15:23.93 and on Saturday set a new course record with a time of 15:35.37 at the challenging Marshall County trail that had stood since 1998.
The top three teams were separated by a mere three points. Marshall County’s boys team placed third in team standings and will advance to the state meet. Daviess County won the team title and Apollo finished runner up. Rounding out the top five advancing to state, Muhlenberg County was fourth and Christian County fifth.
