
Marshall County’s Lady Marshals volleyball team extended their win streak to nine games with a 3-0 win over Calloway County on October 3 before a break from competition over fall break. Back in action this week, the streak came to an end on Monday in a 3-2 loss to Mayfield, but they were back in the win column on Tuesday following a 3-0 win over Paducah Tilghman.
They will play at home tonight against Community Christian Academy in their final game of the regular season before next week’s district tournament to be played at Christian Fellowship. Tonight’s game will also celebrate seniors Kylie Merrick and Shelby Ramage.
In the win over Calloway County, Olivia Hawkins led in kills with nine, Catherine Shelton had seven and six by Laney Yates. Emma Reynolds had 24 assists. In digs, Maleah Terry had 13 and Hawkins 11. Hawkins led in aces with three. The JV team won their match over the Lady Lakers 2-0.
Marshall County beat Mayfield 3-2 on September 16 and that score was reversed when the Lady Cardinals won on Monday 3-2, ending the Lady Marshals run of nine straight wins. Mayfield took the first set 25-15 and the Lady Marshals won the next two 26-24 and 25-23 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

Mayfield tied the match up with a 25-18 win in set four and won the fifth set tiebreaker 15-12 to pick up the win. The JV and freshman teams both won their matches 2-0.
Nora Clark led in kills with nine, Hawkins had eight and six each from Bella Redden and Shelton. Clark had four blocks and Reynolds 22 assists. In digs, Hadley Barrett and Terry had 21 each, Reynolds 20 and Hawkins 15. Clark also led in aces with four and Hawkins and Yates had three aces each.
Tuesday’s win over Paducah Tilghman came by scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-21. The JV and freshman teams won both of their matches 2-0.
Yates led in kills with nine and Reynolds had 16 assists. Terry had 12 digs and Hawkins and Reynolds had eight each. Both Hawkins and Terry had four aces and Yates recorded three.
The Lady Marshals record is 13-4.
