The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office responded to the westbound lanes of Interstate 24, near the 11-mile marker, regarding a collision. The investigation revealed Eric Jackson (64) of Gilbertsville, Kentucky was traveling westbound on Interstate 24, operating a 2005 Mercury Mariner. Anne Calderone (39) of Grass Lake, Michigan was also traveling westbound on Interstate 24, operating a 2021 Volvo tractor-trailer.
Jackson collided with the front of the 2021 Volvo while attempting a lane change maneuver. This action caused the Mercury to overturn multiple times before coming to rest in the westbound lanes of travel. Jackson was pronounced deceased at the scene by McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton.
We were assisted at the scene by Mercy Regional Ambulance, Reidland-Farley Fire Department, McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton, McCracken County DES, Lent’s Towing & Stinnett’s Towing.
Both westbound lanes of travel were closed for approximately four hours to facilitate the investigation.
