Yates takes the win, Lyles 6th at Nooga at Night Invite

Marshall County’s varsity cross country team competed on Saturday in the Nooga at Night Invite in East Ridge, Tenn., located just outside of Chattanooga.

Kobey Yates continued his superb season by taking the win over his competitors by just under 19 seconds ahead of second place finisher Marshall McConville of Baylor School in Chattanooga. Yates completed the three-mile course in 14:24.10.

Yates is one of four cross country runners nominated for Kentucky Boys Performance of the Week by MileSplit for the week of October 7-11. CLICK HERE to vote.

Dual fall sport athlete Addison Lyles placed sixth in the field of 157 with a time of 18:13.30.

Marshall County placed four in the top 50 in the boy’s field of 186. Along with Yates, Owen Futrell finished 41st in 16:45.90, Daniel Walker was 45th in 16:50.20 and Thatcher Newnum placed 53rd in 17:04.70.

The boys’ team finished fourth in team standings among 17 teams in attendance.
