Region 1 soccer tournament play got underway on Monday with the Lady Marshals playing Mayfield at Colburn Field.
They beat the Lady Cardinals 8-0 and move on to Tuesday’s semifinal against McCracken County who beat Graves County 7-0 to advance. Game time is 5:30 at Murray High.
The second semifinal will be between Murray and Paducah Tilghman at 7:30. Murray beat St. Mary 2-0 and Calloway County beat Paducah Tilghman 9-0 in quarterfinal games.
The Lady Marshals scored five first half goals against Mayfield. The first less than five minutes in when Lauren Noles found the net off of a corner kick from Rylee Teague. Just four minutes later, Chaney Green made it a 2-0 game. The third goal was scored by Lyla Walker with the assist to Lexie Driver.
In the final three minutes of the half, Addi Wall made it a 4-0 game and Green scored her second of the night off another corner kick from Teague for the 5-0 halftime lead.
Macy Scott scored all three second half goals for the Lady Marshals. The first just four minutes in on an assist by Wall, then five minutes later found the net for a 7-0 lead. Scott finished off the hat-trick with 26 minutes left to play to give the Lady Marshals the 8-0 win.
