Marshall County played Graves County on Monday in the boy’s District 2 soccer tournament held at Mayfield High School. The winner moving on to meet #1 seed Murray High tonight and it was the Marshals advancing after defeating the Eagles 8-0.
Graves County’s season is not over yet as all teams, win or lose, advance to the super regional. An added element this year in the race to the Region 1 title.
First half goals for the Marshals began on a header by Tommy Robertson. Isaac Reynolds made it 2-0 at the 12-minute mark. Ethan Upton, a former Graves County player, gave the Marshals their third goal of the night. Davis Hunt and Fisher Beth rounded out the first half scoring for 5-0 halftime lead.
Maddox Schroader, on a pass from Houston Johnson put the Marshals up 6-0 in the second half. Robertson scored his second goal of the night on an assist from Trent Jackson with 13 minutes remaining. Hugh Thompson found the net from way out to make it 8-0 and complete the win for the Marshals with a little over six and a half minutes remaining.
Tonight’s semi-final against Murray kicks off a 7:30 following the Lady Marshals semifinal against Graves County who advanced with a 2-1 overtime win over Mayfield on Monday.
