Lady Marshals extend win streak to four

The Lady Marshals celebrate a point in a recent match at Marshall County. They are currently riding a four-game win streak and looking to make it five in a row on Thursday against Paducah Tilghman.

Marshall County’s Lady Marshals volleyball team stretched their win streak to four games after Tuesday night’s 3-1 win over Community Christian Academy. Following last Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Christian Fellowship, the Lady Marshals beat Graves County 3-1 on Thursday and Mayfield 3-2 on Monday.

Against Graves County (4-5), stat leaders in kills were Olivia Hawkins with 12 and four each by Catherine Shelton and Nora Clark. Emma Reynolds finished with 27 assists while Laney Yates had three blocks. In digs, Hadley Barrett led with 15, Reynolds had 19, Hawkins 15 and Maleah Terry 14.

In the Lady Marshals 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-8) win over a good Mayfield (13-6) squad, Hawkins had seven kills and Kylie Merrick and Shelton had six. Reynolds led in assists with 22. Yates had four aces and two blocks. Terry led in digs with 39 and Reynolds recorded 14.

Community Christian was 14-0 this season with tournament titles in the KCAC Tournament and First Region All “A” Classic before losing the last three to Ballard Memorial, McCracken County and Marshall County. Tuesday’s 3-1 win for the Lady Marshals came on scores of 25-20, 18-25, 25-17 and 27-25.

The Lady Marshals (7-3) will be looking for a fifth straight win on Thursday when they play Paducah Tilghman (4-9).
