
Marshall County and Murray High came into Thursday’s district soccer game with one loss each this season. The two teams split their regular season games last year with the Lady Marshals taking the 1-0 District Tournament win over the Lady Tigers in overtime.
The Lady Marshals controlled the ball on their offensive side of the pitch much of the first half and the game was scoreless at halftime.
At the 25:28 mark in the second half, Murray got on the board on a goal by Kendyll English off a corner kick by Ava Flota. Murray doubled their lead on a penalty kick taken by Bria Stiff with just under 12 minutes remaining.
With eight minutes to go, Addi Wall’s goal put the Lady Marshals on the board but time was not on their side in the effort to tie the game up.
Murray improves to 8-1-1 and in control of the Second District with a record of 4-0. The Lady Marshals are 8-2 and 3-1 in district games.
Next on the schedule is two games on Saturday at Colburn Field at 10:30 against University Heights (6-0) and at 6:30 they will take on Daviess County (6-0-2).
