CALVERT CITY, KY, August 26, 2024 – Evonik, one of the world’s leading specialty chemicals companies, has received the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet’s prestigious Governor’s Safety and Health Award for 2023.

The award recognizes outstanding safety and health performance and encourages the development of programs designed to reduce and eliminate occupational injuries. It is given to employers who achieve a minimum required number of hours without lost time injury or illness. Evonik’s site in Calvert City, Ky., was recognized for the second consecutive year.

“The safety of our employees and the surrounding communities is our top priority,” says Jeremy Reed, Evonik’s Calvert City Site Director. “It was a privilege to accept the Governor’s Safety Award on behalf of the Calvert City team.”

Evonik’s Calvert City site is located approximately three miles from the Kentucky Dam and employs about 120 people. Evonik has two manufacturing facilities onsite, Catalyst and Coating Additives. Catalysts are used to produce agricultural, pharmaceutical, and fine chemicals. The Coating Additives unit manufactures environmentally friendly wetting agents, dispersants, and defoamers used in packaging inks, automotive coatings, architectural paints, adhesives, and construction applications.
