North Marshall Middle School Beta Club Places in National Competitions

The last few months, National Beta members from North Marshall Middle School have been working hard to prepare their entries for National Beta Convention. In June, they were able to celebrate that hard work when announced as winners of the following competitions: Performing Arts: Small Group 1st place, Recreate Reimagine Recycle 1st place, Social Media Overall 1st place, Convention Invention 4th Place, Marketing & Communications 5th place.

The club originally competed and received awards during their State Convention held in January. Their victories at the state level provided an opportunity to compete at the national level. The National Convention, held in Savannah, GA, provided all students the opportunity to compete. Over 3,000 Elementary Beta (grades 4-5), 4,800 Junior Beta (grades 6-8) and 6,100 Senior Beta (grades 9-12) students were able to represent their schools both this summer.

Edie Jones, North Marshall Beta Club’s President for the 23-24 school year, reflects on her National Convention experience by sharing, “National Beta and competing in Conventions has allowed me to meet new people, work together with my peers, use my creativity and critical thinking skills. I think my favorite part about the experience was being able to work in a team and create something new and unique. I also think that not only being able to succeed but watch your friends and peers succeed in their projects is a very exciting and unique experience that only National Beta can provide. I’m so thankful to have been able to be a part of Beta Club throughout middle school and for the opportunities that my school and sponsors have provided.”  Jones has had the opportunity to compete at the regional, state, and national levels in Beta in the past two years.

With more than 500,000 active members and 8,750 clubs nationally and internationally, National Beta has become the nation’s largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization. National Beta promotes the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. National Junior Beta includes grades 4-8 and National Senior Beta includes grades 9-12. Visit betaclub.org for more information.
