Calvert City, KY (July 08, 2024) – On July 04, 2024 the Calvert City Police Department responded to Food Giant in reference to two shoplifting complaints. A female can be seen on camera with steaks in her cart. She then walks to another area and can be seen messing around with a large black purse. When she walks back toward the camera, no steaks are visible in her cart. The female buys $8.27 worth of groceries and is not seen on camera putting any items back. A male subject who was with the female can be seen on camera taking a bag of ice without paying for it. The responding officer was familiar with the female subject and responded to her residence, where he located both subjects and $43.28 worth of meat they were fixing to grill. The packaging is consistent with what Food Giant uses. The female denied doing anything wrong. Tamara McFarland, 49, of Gilbertsville was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting. The male subject admitted to taking the ice. Angel White, 47, of Benton was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting.
