Re: DUI and Drug Arrest After Collision
On the afternoon of June 7, 2024, deputies from the Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of KY 80 and Central Road for a non-injury, two vehicle collision. Deputy Chad Hall responded to the scene.
The investigation determined that Brendan Ellegood, 26 of Mayfield, was northbound on Central Road and collided with a vehicle in front of him that was stopped at the stop sign on Central Road at KY 80. Ellegood stated that he did not see the other vehicle until he collided with it.
Deputy Hall noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from Ellegood’s vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in deputies locating marijuana and cocaine. Ellegood was arrested for DUI, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree – Cocaine and Possession of Marijuana.
Ellegood was later transported to the Graves County RC Center where he was transported to an out of county facility by Graves County Jail staff.
Deputy Hall was assisted by Deputy Ben Doran, Deputy Austin Ramage and the Kentucky State Police.

Re: Arrest in Lynnville Area
On June 6, 2024, at approximately 8:47 PM, KSP Post 1 Dispatch received a call from a resident on KY 94 East, just east of the Lynnville Community. The reporting party reported that a vehicle had been involved in a collision on KY 94 East, doing damage to property of the Lynnville Pentecostal Church as well as a neighboring yard. The caller also reported that the operator of the vehicle had left the scene.
Deputy Garret Clark and Chief Deputy Jeremy Prince responded to the scene and located a 2012 Dodge Ram truck with severe damage to the front, side and under carriage of the vehicle. The truck was located in the yard of the Lynnville Pentecostal Church. The investigation determined that the Dodge Ram, operated by Hunt Howard, 33 of Lynnville, had been eastbound on KY 94. The vehicle dropped off of the right shoulder of KY 94, struck a speed limit sign and traveled approximately 250 feet before coming back onto the roadway. The truck then went across both lanes of KY 94 and ran off of the left shoulder struck a mailbox, a tree and at least two headstones in the cemetery of the Lynnville Pentecostal Church before coming to rest a few feet shy of the church building.
Howard was located at his home a short distance from the scene. After speaking with him further and conducting standardized field sobriety tests, Deputy Clark arrested Howard for DUI. Howard was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for medical clearance and was later transported to the Graves County RC Center where he was transported to an out of county detention center by Graves County Jail staff.
Howard was charged with DUI 1st Offense, Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and other traffic and misdemeanor charges. After a records check through NCIC, it was also determined that Howard was wanted out of Vanderburgh County, Indiana for Auto Theft. Howard was charged with being a Fugitive from Another State pending extradition to Indiana.

Re: Arson and Methamphetamine Arrest
On June 7, 2024 at approximately 12:48 AM, deputies were dispatched to Beadles Road, south of Sedalia, for a disturbance. It was determined that Chelsea Lancaster, 27 of Sedalia, had attempted to set fire to a residence with intentions of destroying the property.
Lancaster was placed under arrest and two clear baggie containing methamphetamine were located on her person after the arrest.
Lancaster was charged with Arson 3rd Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense-Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia.
Deputy Austin Caldwell investigated this call and he was assisted by Deputy Tony Cornwell.
No injuries were reported to anyone due to the fire, which was able to be extinguished by the property owner.

Re: DUI and Methamphetamine Arrest
On June 2, 2024 at approximately 9:10 PM, Deputy Austin Caldwell conducted a traffic stop on Paris Road after observing the vehicle commit traffic offenses on KY 303, just south of Mayfield. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Mason Courtney, 43 of Clinton, KY.
After further investigation, it was determined that Courtney was operating his motor vehicle while under the influence. He was placed under arrest for DUI. Deputies located two clear baggies containing methamphetamine after the arrest, one of which Courtney tried to discard so deputies could not locate it.
Courtney was charged with DUI 2nd Offense, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd Offense-Methamphetamine as well as other traffic charges.
Deputy Caldwell was assisted by Deputy Tony Cornwell and Deputy Garret Clark.
