Bettie Ann Bass Tate, 97

Bettie Ann Bass Tate, died Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Paducah, Kentucky on March 22, 1927, to Durward and Mable Wilkins Bass.  She and her family moved to Detroit, Michigan during her school years before moving back to Paducah.

At that time, she joined Immanuel Baptist Church where she met her future husband, John Dean Tate.  They married on December 2, 1948, and remained in Paducah where they raised their three daughters.  Bettie was active in several organizations including the McCracken County Genealogical Society, DAR, Women’s Club, McCracken County Homemakers, and various groups at Immanuel Baptist Church.

She loved to paint and continued to paint well into her 90’s. Bettie also dabbled in enameling ceramics and jewelry making as well as being an accomplished seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her oldest daughter, Lucinda Tate Ragland.

She is survived by her daughters, Lorna Tate Hite (Greg) of Paducah, and Mona Tate Bolin of Murray; her son-in-law, Bill Ragland (Susan) of Paducah; also surviving are three granddaughters, Elizabeth Ragland Neelley (Jason) of Metropolis, Illinois, Juliana Hite (Mike Williams) of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Morgan Blankenship Hutchinson (Brett) of Los Angeles, California; along with great-grandchildren, Olive, Schafer and Carlyle Hutchinson of Los Angeles.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Jamie Broome and Rev. Katie McKowen officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the service time of 12:00 pm on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
