Michael E. Cozart, 65, of Metropolis, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Born to Kenneth and Freda (Lang) Cozart of Metropolis, Mike was a faithful, loving, servant of Jesus Christ. He began teaching Sunday School in 1987 at several countless churches. He was a deacon and remained faithful until the end. He retired in 2021 after 41 years of dedicated service with Southern F.S. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, and Pop Pop. He enjoyed fishing, basketball, and Bigfoot adventures with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sherry Cozart of Metropolis; a daughter, Jacki (Jacob) Horman of Metropolis; four grandchildren, Chance Michael Cozart, Aiden Jace Michael Cozart, Emma Horman, and Elizabeth Horman all of Metropolis; a brother, Neal Cozart of Metropolis; an uncle, Harry (Machie) Lang of Grand Chain, Illinois; special mentions to his nephew, Chris (Jamie) Rutherford of Evansville, Indiana; and his niece, Crystal (Jim) Benard of Metropolis; nieces and nephews, Craig Wilkins, Teri Anderson, Robert Cozart, and Daquita Gibbs; and several cousins and countless loyal friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his son, Michael Paul Cozart; his parents, Kenneth and Freda Lang Cozart; his in-laws, Jackie and Emma Jane Johnson; his maternal grandparents, Curtis and Jenny Lang; his paternal grandparents, Omar and Bessie Cozart, and a brother, Bobby Cozart.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Carl Barrow and Jimmy Harris speaking.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until the service hour of 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Massac Memorial Gardens with Bro. David Siere officiating.
