
Helen Adell Pryor, age 88, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her family reciting The Lord’s Prayer and singing hymns around her.
Helen was born in Melber, Kentucky on December 19, 1935, to the late John Wesley (JW) and Katherine Smith Dowell. Helen was a devoted member of Lone Oak Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Melber High School, where she was a cheerleader during her high school days. It was at Melber High School that she would meet her future husband Billy Pryor, who played on the basketball team. Her legacy of creativity is interwoven with her faith-filled life. She was a retired professional seamstress and her passion for her craft led her to own her own sewing business, Adell Designs. Her talent was sought after by establishments like Clausnor’s, Normandy, as well as, Owen Cleaners in Paducah. Helen was also part owner of Stay Cool Covers with her son, Wesley, where she designed stage covers for iconic musicians including The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, and Vince Gill. Her life was an embodiment of love and creativity, leaving an indelible imprint on the world and on every heart she touched.
Helen is survived by her two sons, Wesley Pryor (Kaye) and Johnny Pryor (Aubrey) both of Nashville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Chelsea Cunningham (Jason) and Dale Pryor, both of Paducah; one great-grandchild, Halle Grace Pryor; and many loving cousins, family members, friends and caregivers, Brenda Smith, Barbara Sessions, and Gail Windset.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeff Pryor, and his father Bill Pryor.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Lone Oak Church of Christ with Paul Wingfield officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the service time of 12:00 P.M. at Lone Oak Church of Christ.
