
Marshall County’s 10 game win streak was snapped on Saturday in two losses to Owensboro (15-10). The Red Devils beat the Marshals 6-3 and 10-0. They lost 2-0 to 9-time Region 1 champion McCracken County (24-8) on Monday which might be the regular season finale after Tuesday’s game against Ballard Memorial was canceled.
Post season play gets underway next week with the 4th District Tournament at Calloway County.
In Saturday’s 6-3 loss to Owensboro, the Marshals tallied 10 hits led by Reese Oakley and Gavin Clark with two each. Oakley hit a double and triple and collected one RBI. Clark hit a double and drove a run in. Clark took the loss over five innings, striking out two, giving up seven hits and two earned of four runs.

In game two against Owensboro on Saturday, they held the Marshals to three hits in their 10-0 win in five innings. The Red Devils made the most of their four hits which included a single, double and triple all from Evan Hampton. Kannon Dunn, Reese Oakley and Chase Shelton recorded the Marshals three hits. Dunn took the loss over three and two third innings, striking out four, walking six, giving up two hits and two earned of eight runs.

In the Marshals 2-0 loss to McCracken County on Monday, the game was scoreless through the first three innings before the Mustangs put the only two runs of the night on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Both runs scoring on singles hit by Casey Hawes and Weston Miller.
The Marshals left the potential tying runs stranded in the top of the fifth after Jace Driver walked and Chase Shelton reached on a single.
Kannon Dunn, Reese Oakley, Ty Swoope and Chase Shelton collected the Marshals four hits. Thomas Bagby took the loss, striking out four, giving up five hits and two runs over six innings.
The Mustangs utilized four pitchers with the win going to Seth Harris. Harris went two innings, gave up two hits, one walk and striking out one.
