
Kentucky Dam Marina was the site of the KHSAA State Bass Fishing Championship Thursday through Saturday.
In the coed division, 87 teams competed and 11 girl’s teams.
The top Marshall County finish came from the team of Maxson Mitchell and Hayden Gray The duo finished 12th in the state with a two-day total of 25 lbs. 4 oz. They caught the five fish limit both days. Day one they finished with a weight of 14-8 and on day two a total weight of 10-12.
Muhlenberg County’s Isaiah Smith and Spencer Shemwell led going into day two with 21-6. They added 18-12 to that total on day two to win the State Championship title with a total of weight of 40 lbs. 2 oz.
Another Muhlenberg County angler won the Big Bass award. Chase Rickard took the honors with a fish weighing in at 5 lbs. 14 oz., caught on day one of the tournament.
Marshall County’s Clayton Wyatt and Ty Redden finished 31st. They caught three fishing weighing in at 5-2 on day one and added four fish on day two at 11-8 for a two-day total weight of 16 lbs. 10 oz.
Steven Wilhelm and Travis Tucker finished 62nd to round out the Marshall County results. On day one they caught one fish at 2-3 and day two added three fish weighing in at 5-12 for a total of 7 lbs. 15 oz.
Hailey Anderson and Brooklynn Martin won the girls division with a two-day total of 25 lbs. 3 oz.
