Marshall County Health Dept. May Update

May is Hepatitis Awareness Month. Hepatitis affects millions of US citizens with a myriad of symptoms and health consequences. Hepatitis is spread person to person, often through sexual contact or sharing needles. It can also be spread by ingesting contaminated food or drink.

Other awareness topics in May include Mental Health, Stroke, and Food Allergy.

Measles is spreading in the United States. While it has not yet reached Kentucky, it is only a matter of time if it goes unmitigated. Over 80% of those who are testing positive for measles are unvaccinated.
