Project has October 1 target completion date
PADUCAH, Ky. (April 22, 2024) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to ramp up construction of a new Soldier Creek Bridge along KY 2603/Vanzora Road in Marshall County starting April 25, 2024 .
KY 2603/Vanzora Road has been closed at mile point 1.17 at the Soldier Creek Bridge (079B00138N) since March 6, 2023, when inspectors observed additional deterioration of the bridge substructure.
KYTC District 1 engineers immediately started efforts to design a new structure to replace the existing bridge and identify funding for the project.
Mobilization of equipment to start demolition of the existing bridge will ramp up this week, with construction of a new bridge to follow.
Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on this $1,389,024 bridge replacement project. The target completion date is October 1, 2024.
