
Marshall County Softball hosted the Lady Marshals Slugfest on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Marshals won two games on Friday, 13-6 over Caldwell County and 8-1 over Ballard Memorial. They lost 11-2 to South Warren on Saturday bringing their record to 13-8.
The Lady Marshals tallied 16 hits to kick off the Slugfest with a win over Ballard Memorial (7-5). Chevelle Henson had three hits including a double and Macy McLeod went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Marin Oakley and Trinlee Anderson each had two hits and both drove in two runs. Allicen Harris earned the win over seven innings, giving up four hits, one run and struck out seven.

The Lady Marshals followed up their 16-hit win over Ballard Memorial on Friday with 15 hits in their 13-6 win over Caldwell County (10-7). Seven different players collected two hits and RBI leaders were Oakley and McLeod with three and two each from Darnall and Anderson. Darnall earned the seven-inning win, allowing eight hits, six runs, walked one and struck out two.

In Saturday’s 11-2 loss to #1 ranked South Warren (20-1), the Lady Marshals collected three hits from Henson, Jackson and Anderson. Oakley and Anderson drove in the two runs. Harris took the loss, giving up 12 hits, 11 runs, walked five and struck out six over seven innings.
South Warren’s Layla Ogden pitched the win in relief over five and a third innings. The sophomore allowed no hits, one run, walked one and struck out 11. South Warren’s McLaine Hudson and Kinleigh Russell are the state’s top two leaders in hits with 47 and 39. Russell went 4-for-5 on Saturday and drove in one run. Hayden Holloway hit a grand slam in the top of the first inning.
