
James Owen Slusmeyer, 88, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Providence Pointe of Paducah. He was born in Paducah on November 4, 1935, to the late James Herman Slusmeyer and Ruby Elizabeth McClanahan Slusmeyer. James worked for Modene Manufacturing for 22 years and was the retired owner and operator of Slusmeyer Painting. He was a member and Deacon of Lone Oak First Baptist Church.
James is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia Childress Slusmeyer; daughter, Tammy Blackburn and husband, Kevin of Paducah, Kentucky; son, Jeff Slusmeyer of Paducah, Kentucky; sister, Sherron Anne Alexander of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; six grandchildren, Brian (Krystie) Slusmeyer, Christy Nease, Nicole (Jeff) Overby, Rachel (Eric) Dunsford, Leigh Ann (James) Free and Abby (Aaron) Penrod; nine great-grandchildren, Corey, Cheyenne (John), Drake, Cayden, Owen, Aubrey, Sonya, Bentley and Bailey.
He was preceded in death by a son, James “Woody” Slusmeyer and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Dan Summerlin and Rev. Bob Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2024 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
