Pastor Larry Starnes, age 82, of Boaz, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024, at his home.
Larry was born on January 1, 1942, to Floyd and Earline Budd Starnes. Pastor Larry was pastor of Oasis Christian Center and retired owner of Starnes’s Bar-b-Que. He was a 1959 graduate of Lone Oak High School. He received a Doctor of Divinity from the University of Florida. Larry enjoyed coon hunting many years ago. Pastor Larry’s passion was studying the Bible, preaching, and witnessing to people.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Yopp Starnes; one daughter, Paula (Mike) Riley, Mayfield, Kentucky; one son, Tim (Detra) Starnes, Boaz, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Steven (Laura) Riley, Daniel (RaKeshia) Riley, Adam (Peyton) Riley, Amy (Travis) Biggers and Sara (Sean) Aldrich, 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were his parents; his first wife, Judith Ann Harper Starnes; two sisters, Marilyn Fox and Rebecca Smith; and one brother, Donald Starnes.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Pastor David Parrish officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
