Track and field brings home 11 medals from state indoor meet

Marshall County track and field athletes came home with 11 medals from the Class 3A KHSAA Indoor Track and Field State Championships on Saturday. Marshall County track and field athletes competed in Saturday’s Class 3A KHSAA Indoor Track and Field State Championship at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center in Louisville.

State medals were earned in seven different events by 11 Marshall County athletics.

For the boys, the top result of the day came in the boy’s 4 x 400 relay that took second with a time of 3:26.50. Relay team members are Isaac Hodges, Cade Sorrells, Zander Maxlow and Tyler Orlandi. The time is one second off the all-time record at MCHS.

Top individual medals were earned by Deegan Croley who placed third in the shot put with a throw of 48-04.00. In the 60 meters, Tyler Orlandi placed fifth in 7.19 and Zander Maxlow was eighth with 7.21. Kobey Yates finished sixth in the 3000 meters in 8:54.40 which is a new school record. Aiden Dunigan placed eighth in the long jump with 19-10.00.

The 4 x 800 relay team of Owen Futrell, Isaac Reynolds, Walker Jones and Isaac Kinsey placed 20th with a time of 8:52.69.

The girls team earned medals in two finals. Bailey Allred took third in the shot put with a throw of 32-11.00 and Presley Gallimore finished sixth in the 400 meters in 1:00.01.

Addison Lyles finished 13th in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:07.59. The 4 x 400 relay team with team members Charleigh Duncan, Chaney Travis, Allie Burkeen and Presley Gallimore finished 22nd in 4:29.09.
