
Mr. Bobby J. Hodges, 77 of Murray, KY, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at his home.
Born December 29, 1946, in Almo, KY, he was the son of the late Thomas J. Hodges and the late Essie Elizabeth (Phillips) Hodges Morris. Bobby worked at the Tappan Stove Company until its closure. He then worked as a mechanic for Parker Ford, Calloway County Bus Garage, and Murray State University, also working as a self-employed mechanic and carpenter for many years. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, Murray, KY.
Bobby honorably served in the United States Army. He was drafted on April 4, 1966, completed basic and advanced individual training, and was awarded the Basic Crewman Aviation Badge. He spent time in Kansas, Alabama, and Korea, as a 67m20 helicopter mechanic. While in Korea, he was assigned as a driver for officers while deployed, earning him an award for special duties and responsibility. During his enlistment, he was also awarded an Expert m14 Qualification Badge and the National Service Defense Medal. Bobby diligently served his country until Jan 5, 1968, when he returned home from Korea.
Those left to cherish Bobby’s memory include his wife of 57 years, Barbara Hodges of Murray, KY; children, Tammy (Michael) Hodges-Burnett, Robert Wayne (Christie) Hodges, and Debbie Addison, all of Murray; grandchildren, Sarah (Haley) Willard of Murray, Courtney (Marius) Marcu of Germany, Jake (Lauren) Burnett of Murray, and David (Cheyanne Gillespie) Burnett of Sanford, FL. Also surviving are treasured great grandchildren, Lillian Davis, Emma Rose Davis, Madilyn Grace Marcu, Elijah Gabriel Marcu, Michael Ray Burnett, Grayson Lee Burnett, Christopher Edward Burnett, Mason Gillespie, and Bobby Joe Burnett, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, with Bro. Brett Miles and Bro. David Cunningham officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow the service in the Barnett Cemetery, Murray, KY.
