In their final regular season game at home on Thursday, the Christian Fellowship Lady Eagles beat Heritage Christian 56-16. The win was the fourth straight for the Lady Eagles to wrap things up before next week’s 4th District Tournament with a record of 16-12.
CFS built a 39-8 lead at halftime and at the end of three quarters led 51-14 on their way to the 40-point win.
Gracie Howard led CFS with 28 points. The new First Region all-time leading scorer hit 3-of-4 from three-point range and was 5-of-5 at the free throw line. Howard also led in assists with five. Freshman Jenna Neal had a great night for the Lady Eagles with 16 points.
Heritage Christian was led by sophomore Kate St. Martin who scored 14 of their 16 points.
Tuesday, the Lady Eagles picked up a nice First Region win over St. Mary 47-36. Howard scored 32 points for CFS that included two three pointers and she was 8-of-9 at the free throw line. Rylee Hudson and Kylee Hines had six points each and Ava Ryan rounded out the scoring with three points.
The Lady Eagles will meet Calloway County at Murray High in the 4th District Tournament on Monday at 6:00. They lost both of their regular season games against Calloway County but played them much closer in the second before falling 75-59.
“First time, not good, second time we had one bad quarter”, said Head Coach Trevor Jackson. “We lost by 16 and it was the second quarter that did us in. We outscored them the second half. They may have been overlooking us just a bit. That will be the message for the next three days. Go out there and give the best effort and leave it all on the court. I know it will take a huge effort, but I don’t count these girls out.”
